Why Beach Cup?

The Division Commissioners and Board of Directors have unanimously and enthusiastically decided to continue a Pool Play format playoff. Pool Play style tournaments are the norm in the soccer world from The World Cup to Club Soccer tournaments to AYSO-Sanctioned Open Tournaments and Playoffs.

Pool Play means greater opportunities for your team and more certainty with your schedule.  All teams in the Beach Cup will play a minimum of 3 games.  And all games are pre-scheduled so you’ll know ahead of time when and where your next game will be.

Points system for pool play standings

  • WIN = +6 points
  • TIE = +3 points
  • LOSS = 0 points
  • GOAL = +1 point per goal scored, max of three per game, win or lose
  • SHUTOUT = +1 point if opponent scores zero goals, including 0-0 ties
  • RED CARD = -2 point deduction for each red card, including ejection of coach or assistant coach
  • FORFEIT = Game is scored as a 2-0 loss.
  • REFEREE POINT ADJUSTMENT = 0, -1, -2 or -3 dependent on ref point participation detailed here

Effort on a Loss or a Tie is important because your team can still earn points by scoring goals.

We hope the 2024 Beach Cup will offer a tremendous experience for all participating teams. Best of Luck!
